Washing machine, tumble dryer and iron are in the basement in the room opposite the stairs. Drying rack (clothes horse) in the conservatory.
Please be aware: the washing machine and dryer are also used by our cleaning team. It may be that during your stay, our cleaning team will go through the basement entrance to the laundry room to take care of some laundry.
Miele Washing Machine
“Baumwolle” is the standard program for cotton. Choose the respective temperature. 40°C usually for clothes and 60°C usually for towels. The washing powder needs to be placed in compartment “II”. Press “Start”.

Troubleshooting: When the water is still in the machine (occasional). Usually, a coin or a button has got stuck in the water pump. Solution: Open the small cover at the bottom left of the machine. Open the screw lid and remove the object obstructing the pump.
Beko tumble dryer
Place the washed laundry in the dryer. The usual program is “Koch-/Buntwäsche, schranktrocken plus”. This is for all regular cotton clothes. Press “Start”. If laundry is still damp after this you can run an extra “30 min” program.
You might have noticed the woollen balls. They help dry the laundry by placing them in the tumble dryer with the laundry. The laundry will be softer and dry faster. Place them on the top of the machine after use so they can air.
Important:
On the indicator panel, there is a light reminding of the need to clean the filters. There is a further symbol of a full water tank. The water-tank symbol can be ignored because the water goes directly into the drain.
There are two air filters that require regular cleaning. After every cycle the dust and fluff need removing from the filter just inside the laundry door at the bottom. Take the filter out to remove the fluff with your fingers. If needed rinse under clean water.
The second filter needs cleaning every 8 cycles. It is located to the bottom left of the machine behind a flap you push slightly against to open. Take the filter out to remove the fluff with your fingers. Should a paper filter additionally be inserted, then dispose of it and replace it with a new one. If needed rinse under clean water. Take care not to damage the filter material. Failing to clean this filter will damage the machine.
