Care of Mediterranean plants in the conservatory

 

Usually the care of the plants is in the hands of our local hosts. However, should you be staying longer than one week during the hot water period, it might become necessary to water the plants in the conservatory. In that case, water the plants in the summer with rainwater from the container. Fill the plant pot with water until the red bar in the water level indicator reaches the mark.

Then wait until the red stick has sunken completely before watering again, possibly still waiting another week to provide the plants with a healthy dry period and then first fill up with water again.

For now, this is done via the soil until the roots of the plants are strong enough and then can be watered directly into the transport pipe that runs into the bottom of the pot.

In winter, when the water tank in the garden is empty, use tap water. Water should always be at room temperature. However, in the winter watering should be very seldom because this is the natural dry period of the plants when they do not need much water.

Only fertilise in the summer period (by our local hosts). In winter, when the plant is dormant, do not fertilise.
