In Tuningen (as for most areas in Europe) rubbish must be separated to enable recycling and is checked by the authorities. Please follow this guide:

• Waste paper and cardboard can be collected in the designated bin under the sink and is disposed of in the green waste paper bin in front of the garage. 

• Packaging (e.g. plastic wrappers, plastic foils, plastic bottles, metal cans, aluminium foil, drink cartons, etc.) can be collected in the designated bin under the sink and is disposed of in dedicated yellow bin in in front of the garage. 

• Collect all organic waste (all organic food and kitchen waste) separately and through it on the compost heap behind the house. Make sure there is no plastic or metal in it.

• Residual waste (floor sweepings, vacuum cleaner bags, nappies/diapers, medicines, ash, cigarette ends etc.) can be collected in the designated bin under the sink and is disposed of in the black residual waste bin in front of the garage.

• Glass needs to be taken to the bottle bank (glass containers). The nearest ones are 300m away here

• Batteries need collecting separately with all supermarkets having boxes to collect them for recycling.

 

Waste is collected every 4 weeks with different types collected alternatively. Please place the appropriate waste bins or the yellow sacks on the pavement for collection on the evening before the respective collection days. There is a collection calendar in the top cupboard next to the stove and also available in the PDF below. 

Should the residual waste bin be full then please purchase additional residual waste sacks (5,30€/piece) at Nahkauf-Markt, Hauptstr. 1
